OVERVIEW
This page organizes EKG findings for the patients who have been diagnosed with a right bundle branch block (RBBB).
DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA FOR RBBB
Before delving too deep into the EKGs themselves, let us review what the diagnostic criteria for a RBBB is. 3 conditions must be met to diagnose a RBBB on an EKG:
- QRS complex of > 120 milliseconds (larger then 3 small boxes)
- “Bunny ear” pattern (rsR’) present in one of the anterior precordial leads V1-V3
- “Slurred S waves” (i.e broadened S wave) in leads I, aVL and often V5 and V6
EKG EXAMPLES OF RBBB: RSR’ IN ANTERIOR PRECORDIAL LEADS (V1-V3)
EKG EXAMPLES OF RBBB: SLURRED S WAVES IN LEADS I, aVL (OFTEN V5-V6)
