OVERVIEW
Salmonella infection refers to an infectious gastrointestinal condition caused by Salmonella species (bacterial genus).

Risk factors:
Recent ingestion of poultry/eggs (suspicion of undercooked items), pet turtles
Initial Presentation
- Diarrhea
- Gastroenteritis
CLINICAL WORKUP
Ova And Parasite Test: this can be done on the stool to evaluate for possible GI infections.
Stool cultures will be able to grow out Salmonella species (that will confirm the diagnosis)
