0.45% sodium chloride (commonly called half normal saline) is a very commonly used IV fluid in medicine. It has the following features:
- Osmolarity (hypotonic): 154 mOsmol/L (contains 0.45 g/L of sodium chloride)
- Sodium concentration: 77 mEq/L
- Chloride concentration: 77 mEq/L
