Ceftazidime (Fortaz) is a third generation cephalosporin.
WHEN DO WE USE IT?
Coverage for the following pathogens:
- Gram negative: Klebsiella, Pseudomonas
- Gram positive: Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes
WHEN DO WE AVOID USING IT?
Patients with a known cephalosporin allergy
