Cefepime

WHAT IS IT?

Cefepime is a fourth generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It has greater activity against both gram positive and gram negative organisms (compared to third generation options).

For broad empiric coverage 

WHEN DO WE AVOID USING IT?

To treat the following organisms (which it does not cover): MRSA, atypical bacteria, enterococci.
