Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI)

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) refers to a condition characterized by involuntary loss of urine with increased abdominal pressure (coughing, laughing, straining from constipation) in the absence of bowel constriction.

Treatment involves exercises that strengthen the pelvic floor muscles (Kegel exercises). This involves squeezing and releasing the levator ani muscles a few times each day so as to improve the support around the urethra and bladder.
